This baby had an easy life in Huntington Beach California up to 1996 when it was exported to… Belgium. After being used as a daily driver by a local hairdresser it was sold in 2002 to a gentleman who thought he made the deal of his life… that was till his coworker (and friend of Da BBT Houze) saw the car and pointed to some bubbles under the paint; “You know what that is?” he asked “No, not really”,“ Well that’s we call rust”. Turned out the car needed serious repair. The coworker was well willing to take the job but without time pressure and after hours. It took over ten years to finish. The coworker performed a complete body off rotary paint job restoration. This restauration can easily compete with the best. Fully documented with two pictures book and a whole stack of bills and paperwork. The result is simply stunning!
The hood was replaced by Belgian finest upholsterer, an older crafts worker raised in a family of upholsterers for generations. The hood is super smooth and open and close as new!
The engine was completely rebuild from bottom up and spins like a kitten, all ready for many kilometers of absolute ultimate Volkswagen fun.
The car sit on a rather rare set of original Kronprinz 5.5 x 15 steel original VW accessory wheels, to us they’re the best looking wheel for a late model convertible.
The car didn’t drive over a 1000km since restoration for the simple reason the owner, who is retired meanwhile, has 4 grandchildren and he simply can’t decide which one he like to take or leave behind. And that is also the very simple reason he decided to sell the car, something he came knocking our door for.
This baby comes with complete Belgian paperwork, including homologation you will need as daily driver, commercial transport or rental car.
