This doublecab rolled of the Volkswagen Hannover assembly lines somewhere early in January 1963 what makes she comes with the much desired small rear window. This baby is still in its factory original coat of L87 Pearl White.
More original like this they simply don’t come. The body is very original and fairly untouched. We only changed the engine lid for a straight one and replaced the rockers left and right. But if You look to the bed and the side gates, it’s amazing a double cab survived that well! Also the cab floor tells You how good this baby really is.
Inside all seats are original, the rear seat was missing but we dragged down a correct one (need upholstery though). Front seats been recovered in a set of pepper and salt, maybe incorrect for the year, but at least its betters as no covers.
Mechanical wise the entire bus was gone through. Everything works, brakes are new and steering is very well sorted out. The transmission shifts smooth. The engine we don’t know where it came from, but hell, this is one of the fastest stock engines we ever drove!
All in all this is the real deal. All ready to leave. We tried to imagine how long ago it was since we had a double in original paint, if we ever had! This is rather rare! And this one is not worked till the bone as most are but still has a lot of meat on it!
