Jim is what they call a “mobile mechanic” in California, he took over from his boss “Carl” when he retired. Well this Ghia was solely and lifelong serviced first by Carl and later on by Jim, always the same steady routine service!
The lady owner, Mrs Hickman turned 85 years old this year and give up driving, actually she hardly drove the car after her husband passed away around 10 years ago. Jim took over the car but realized he’s a mechanic and not a collector so he called me and asked if I wanted the car. Cars out of single owner ship are always very welcome @ BBT!
Mrs Hickman could not locate any service records when Jim finally picked up the car, but she got the original Bill Of Sale, from when she with her husband bought the car brand new on Nov 18 1970 in San Mateo California. Buying a new car was quiet a big and important thing in their lives.
This not a concourse car nor a show winner, but it’s a cool little neat used car as You could find a used Karmann Ghia probably in the late seventies or eighties. A real time wrap. Let’s experience driving in the seventies like it really felt back then…. This is your sweet little cruiser!
